Hotel Sanctuary

As you may know, I travel to St. Petersburg, FL on a regular basis to appear live on HSN.   For the past year, I’ve been the on-air spokesperson for the 100% preservative free (as in no parabens) Boscia skin care line and have had a blast talking about their products and why I’m personally a fan of them.     Last week was my last appearance for Boscia because I have a little news:  later this year, I will be launching my own signature line of products on HSN.    So, in order to get ready for that, I had to gracefully leave Boscia (they are in good hands now!) and work on my own line…  But more on that later.

The hotel that most HSN guests stay at is the lovely Hilton Hotel right on Lake Carillon.    Adjacent to the hotel is a wildlife sanctuary that I use for my morning runs and I thought I’d share some lovely pics from it.

Built on top of the lake are these redwood bridges that connect all along the reserve.   They make for a fun run and can also be used to connect to other buildings on the property.  During the lunch hour, I often see people who work at nearby buildings using it to get in a quick workout, too.

Large turtles are abundant in the lake.  This guy must have easily been 16″ long.

Love the moss covered trees, so indigenous to Florida and this part of the country.

Any idea what kind of bird this is?    Lots of these guys live at the lake are don’t seem bothered by people at all.  You’ll see them sitting on the railings and they will barely budge as you run right by em.

The bird is a great blue heron.

  2. Danny, it is a heron. Not sure the specific one, but a heron.

Not a heron. It’s an Anhinga. Looks similar to a cormorant but lacking a hook on the beak. These photos are clear. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anhinga
