Best Reusable Bags

February 28th, 2009

I did a little segment on the best reusable bags and how going green can sometimes make you a little “green” too! Check out the new Simply Green line of reusable tote bags at JCPenney stores now. They are just $1.99 each and are super sturdy with a reinforced bottom. Four different styles to choose from with the proceeds going to the JCpenney After School Fund. All good stuff!

Contest: Sigg 100 Years Reusable Bottle Set

February 27th, 2009

The always eco minded people at SIGG sent me two reusable water bottles to celebrate the fact they've been in business for 100 years now.   Amazing, right?   1908-2008.    So, it only takes a century for an eco-minded idea to gain mainstream appeal?  ha ha.

Well, as much as I love Sigg, I have no use for two more reusable bottles, so why not share them with you?   What I like about this set is that you get one basic model for the person who prefers simplicity…and one very nicely deocrated one for the more colorful eco person.   His and hers?

So, to win, I'll keep it simple:

What do you hope will happen in 100 years from now?

Be sure to leave a way for me to contact you if you won!    I'll email you from    Contest closes Friday, March 6th and one more thing: GOOD LUCK!

New Simply Green Tote Bags

February 26th, 2009

SG Tote Boxes

I think the #1 question I'm getting lately at the front door of my house is, "am I at the right house?"   Lots of delivery truck folks are driving up and down my residential road looking for a business and never expect to pull up to black painted modern house in the middle of the woods.   But, yes, UPS, Fedex, DHL, Freight Express, Airborne and anyone else: you are at the right house.

Today, seven giant boxes showed up and all contained the newest reusable tote bags that will be for sale in JCpenney stores any day now.   Our Simply Green campaign is a success and our customers have been clamoring for reusable tote bags ever since our first run of them sold out nationwide.    So, this time, we're prepared.   And I'm going to (eventually) give some away on this blog.   But before I hold a contest, I wanted to share the design that I love with you:

This one is my favorite of the different designs coming out.   It's just so simple and graphic at the same time.    On the bottom of the tote, it tells you who designed it.  This one as done by Emily Taylor from the University of Cincinnati.   Pretty soon, thousands of people will be carrying around a tote bag designed by Emily…. how cool is that?

These bags (with a reinforced and sturdy bottom) will be in stores for just $1.99 very soon.  Check 'em out and come back soon for a contest where I'll give a bunch away.

February 25th, 2009

This April, Aveda is celebrating Earth month by launching a limited edition "Light the Way" soy candle.

Proceeds from the sale of the candle will benefit clean water rights campaigns around the world, so you can feel good that you've made the right eco choice when buying a soy candle and feel even better knowing your purchase helped a great cause.

To win, leave a comment sharing an idea how you save water at home.   I'll pick a winner by Friday and the winner will be notified by    Please leave a way for me to contact you if you win!

CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. Congrats to Amy Woidtke for winning. Stay tuned for more contests.

Eco Painting Tips

February 24th, 2009

I’m having so much fun with the new and improved Daily Danny blog. I’m finally buckling down and learing all the “tech” stuff to make this site a bit more rich and easier to navigate. First up: I’m trying to post video. Here’s a fun segment where I give lots of eco painting tips from the March issue of Better Homes and Gardens. Enjoy!
