Natural Holiday

November 29th, 2012

Happy Friday!

Our holiday collection has hit stores and pieces are showing up here and there every single day.

I came across this handmade set of three stars (made by local artisans in the Philipines) and thought these would be a great statement ornament for any holiday tree.

Or this hand crafted wooden star made from sustainable natural wood and woven into five point star.    This I would love to see at the top of the tree or even just hanging on the front door in place of a wreath.

I’m back from Florida today and looking forward to a lovely weekend.  Hope you are too and here’s to kicking off the holiday season!

Cheers!

Lovely Terrain

November 27th, 2012

As you may know, I’m slightly obsessed with the store Terrain at Styer’s in Glen Mills, PA.   I’m especially even more obsessed during the holiday season when the deck the greenhouse halls with their beautiful things for the home and garden.  Enjoy these pics.

Bundles of cafe lights around a freshly cut evergreen…

Pine cone lights… must. have.    Wish they were LED though..

And what a brilliant way to present ALMOST real artificial flowers: wrapped in newspaper.

Aw, trickery.

A succulent tree… or a living tree!

DIY Advent Calendar

November 26th, 2012

About a year ago, the editors at Brides magazine sent me a box of these very inexpensive unbleached cloth bags to customize for a story they were working on.  I figured out a very fun way to use Kool-Aid to make colorful treat bags that they photographed and put in the magazine.

Then I realized today as I was taking inventory of my supplies in my craft room that I had exactly 25 of these bags.  You know what else is also 25?  An Advent Calendar.   So, I decided to make one with the Christmas holiday just around the corner.

Had a pack of 1-10 stamps (although I don’t know why they gave me a 6 and a 9, because they are basically the same!) and a permanent ink pad in red from the brand STAYZ.

Each bag gets stamped for each day leading up to Christmas…Here’s O1!

All 25 ready to go.   And be filled and strung on branches in the living room.

Can’t figure out what to fill them with…. thoughts?

Happy Friday

Happy Friday!

Just wanted to share this pretty pic of the front porch of my cottage house.   I love this time of year when the mature Japanese maple trees in front of the house turn blazing red.

Have a wonderful weekend!
