Office Party Ideas

About a year ago, I was in San Francisco producing a story on how to throw an office party on the cheap at the offices of Method Home cleaning products.  I work closely with Method because I love the products and I love the people who work there, so I know they’d be game to doing a fun photo shoot jam-packed with resourceful and clever ideas to bring some life to any office party.

Method’s social media guru Anna is here being our model for the party.  Yes, it’s her fake birthday.  And she’s enjoying a cake made entirely out of recycled materials standing in front of wall made with just TWO packs of Post-It notes.

I love this idea so much.  Take chilled eye masks and wrap them around a bottle of bubbly champagne to keep it cool.   The bottles look like mysterious guests to me.

Bring actual leaves to the bakery at your supermarket and ask them to scan them onto edible “photo” paper.   You know those cakes you can order with someone’s actual picture on it?  Why not do leaves instead, cut them out with scissors, and place them on cupcakes as edible sugar leaves.  They. Look. So. Real.

And I’m throwing in this pic because it’s wacky and crazy.   It’s an entire sofa covered in all types of cleaning cloths.   These creative geniuses at Method just went nuts one day (I assume) and covered every inch of this with mop heads, sponges and microfiber towels.   It’s actually quite comfy and—seriously—if you spill anything, will anyone know?

nice, but seems like a waste of paper…where do you draw the line on wasting Post-Its?

I love these ideas! very creative and fun. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with Don about the Post-Its. Unless they are removed at some point and used, then it seems less than green. Clever, but not really eco-friendly. Love the couch, however. This idea could be expanded upon using other materials, especially on a worn couch.

My first thought was the Post-It notes. I agree that it seems wasteful. I would have used paper from the recycled bin to make ornaments or a wreath.

I am also worried about the Post-It notes. It just doesn’t seem really green. Resourceful, yes. But wasteful? Also yes. Sorry!

I like the couch, too. Although I’m not sure how well that would work with the decor scheme in my house. xD

    I heart method. So much.

I have to chime in about the Post-Its as well…I’m actually a little shocked that idea was featured here!

How does “cheap” + “resourceful” = “clever” if it’s also wasteful?

ditto on the post-its. It could be pretty cool if someone decided to save them all over the course of a year (used) and then create a design.
